About the Company

The pioneer in the mass tires, the Firestone Tire& Rubber Co., a.k.a. Firestone Tires is a tire company established by Harvey Samuel Firestone on August 3rd, 1990. Originally based in Akron, Ohiothe company manufactured and suppliedair-filled tires for carriages, vehicles, and other forms of wheeled transportduring that time. Firestone ran into trouble a few years later, and in 1988 joined the Japan-based Bridgestone Corporation after the president John Nevinsold the company for $2.6 billion, changing the fortunes of the company forever. The merger made the company the world’s largest tire and rubber manufacturing company, with this unit as Bridgestone’s biggest subsidiary, renamed as Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.

Today the combined operations of Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. in North America function out of Nashville, Tennessee, with the unit having been renamed as Bridgestone Americas Tire Ops LLC (BSAM) as a mark of celebration for the 20-year anniversary of the historic merger. The combined operations make this the w Firestone soon saw the huge potential for marketing tires forautomobiles. BSAM today is a worldwide phenomenon with more than 50,000 employees and 52 production facilities in the Americas.

BSAM and its subsidiaries understand that the safety and tread aspect of the tire is what make them extremely important to be manufactured and designed carefully. With this very objective in mind, they develop, produce and market anextensivearray of Firestone, Bridgestone and other associated-brands tires to service the needs of a wide range of clienteles, producing tires that suitretail clients, automotive and commercial vehicle OEMs, as well as tires meant for off-the-road use such as agriculture and mining industries.
